MFS swirch
Replaced original switch, works perfectly. My original switch, the turn signals were intermittent. Installation a little bit tricky, as partial disassembly of steering column is necessary.

Motorcraft versus AC Delco electrical replacement parts
When the original turn switch failed, I first replaced it with an AC Delco part, which then broke after a brief period of use. I then replaced it with the Motorcraft part. The Motorcraft part has a much nicer feel to it. In contrast, the AC Delco part FELT like it was going to break, and it did. I have had the same experience with ignition key columns. The AC Delco part was sub-par. There is an electrical contact that was coming off, right out of the box. In a brief time the main body of the AC Delco ignition key column started to fall apart. Again, the Motorcraft part looks and feels like it is higher quality. I plan to stick with Motorcraft for electrical parts.

i dont know too much about which parts i need and have looked at the 2006 workshop manual that was posted on the site. any other suspension parts i should look at and check to see if theyre bad.
The flasher is screwed to the dash frame and difficult to get to. But if the turn signals don't work and the safety flashers don't work, the problem is the turn signal assembly on the steering column. My hazards have never worked since I got the car three years ago, but not until yesterday did my turn signals stop working on the dash and the outside lights. An aftermarket turn signal assembly can be bought on line for about $55. and BEFORE you go changing out the whole turn signal stalk. On the 1996 Lincoln Mark 8 the flasher is located under the left hand corner of the dash, you just about have to stand on your head to locate it. Removal of the panel under the steering wheel will help locate the flasher. Spray a little, put the can down, and work the emergency-flasher. It made a little weird noise at first and had to move the button up and down a couple of times, but after a minute or two, everything works perfectly now. flasher button on the top of the steering column. Spraying that cleaner around the hazzard button on the steering wheel was just the trick.
