Windstar door lock actuator/install -JUST DO IT
I just completed the replacement of this part. I was somewhat skeptical as I had noticed mixed reviews on these actuators. However, it has been working OK, but does seem a little bit weeker than the OEM and doesn't move the lock button up quite as far as before. Installation on '99 Windstar took a little over an hour and I'm no mechanical expert; plus Ford engineering is always the finest.To install:(1) Remove the door panel(2) Remove/unplug the window/mirror switches (having the panel completely out of the way is nice.)(3) Pull back about 1/2 of the foam barrier(4) Unscrew the door lock assembly from the jam(5) Disconnect the door key lock swivel rod from lock assembly(6) Disconnect the door handle rod (un-snaps) from lock assembly(7) Unplug the door ajar sensor and actuator (now the assembly should slide out to work on)(8) Looking at the new part, it's easy to see how the old actuator releases from the lock...

Great Value and better that OEM
Ford wanted twice the price for this remote and my dealer has a charge for programming. This looks and functions exactly like the OEM remote. Simple instructions were provided and it took less than 1 minute to do the programming on the new remote and the old original that I had. I highly recommend this product and seller.

Here's a tip -- look at the quality of the packaging to get some clue as to the quality of the product inside. McGard's packaging shows the care and pride they take in all that they do. McGard's service department is also first rate. It's good to know that there are still companies like McGard that will not cut corners despite the flood of cheap junk on the market that is only sold by a (falsely) low price. Locking Lug Nuts

These are fine wheel locks
I purchased these on line because the dealer provided wheel locks that stuck out over 1/4" farther than the lug nuts, which are all visible. I did call the McGard people to discuss which model to buy. Do not waste your time with them. They wanted me to buy a totally different model than what I bought. They had no information on the make and model car that I have it's a 2011. That was a big disappointment. If they had a drawing on their website that showed how them measure the length and the depth of the bore for the threads, that would help a lot. I e-mailed them to. Don't bother with that either. They actually suggested that I buy the locks on line someplace else.

Door lock actuator looks like the OEM one
Exact replacement for the broken one I removed. A good video on YOUTUBE showing how to replace one of these for my vehicle. The major effort is removing the side door trim and actually unsnapping the control links which actuate the lock. Was an easy fix and the cost was inexpensive. Do it yourself.

This will continue this Lincoln Lock In. Robbies is two blocks from the museum, so the sooner you can email your registration, the easier it will be for making food arrangements. In addition it will allow us the opportunity to tour the state capital and visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum prior to the Lock In fellowship activities.
