Do it yourself heater valve
If your Lincoln or Ford heater is pumping heat only and will not regulate temperature this is most likely the only part you need to replace. Typically hard to remove the old hoses but well worth it for a do-it yourself kind of guy. Save yourself $500 in labor and go for it. Top to learn more

Lincoln part
This is the heater control valve for a Lincoln LS. Part is identical to the one at the dealer and is half the price on Amazon. Hard to install but works perfectly. Top to learn more
Must have if your Lincoln is blowing heat
My wifes 01 Lincoln LS V8 started blowing hot air when she wanted the AC on in the summer. So I asked the question of what could be wrong on the automotiveforums and they had a answer.[...]Only real problem was taking out the original one due to where its located. You really need one of those long hose clamp remover tools that you can snake down to this valve.I added pics on the forum.Cant really review the valve itself other than it fixed the problem. The old one had seized up. Top to learn more

works 01 Jaguar S-Type
Installed this on our 01 Jaguar S-Type and it works great. No longer have heat blowing out the drivers side at all times. It is time consuming to put on because of the tight quarters but can be done without too much technical knowledge. It is best to disconnect all the heater lines where you can easily get to them and lift out the unit with all the lines still attached to it. Top to learn more

much better than expected
I pre-heat my 237/(300) Mack engine with the heater; I power a large circular sawmill with the engine; I set my timer (Lowe's exterior timer; $22.00)depending on night temperature. If it gonna get -20, I have it kick on at midnight; if -30 I plug it in as soon as I shut the mill down (4PM); if 0 to -10 degrees (the usual in winter)I set the timer to kick it on at 3AM. At 16 cents kwh it cost about 25 cents an hour to operate-cheap insurance! Some have had less success than I have had with tank heaters because they didn't follow directions-enough said-follow directions and it will work fine. This thing is the nuts! My big Mack prime mover kicks right of with not even a full turn; before the suggestion to put on this beautiful heater; I had to futz and fart around with salamanders, tarps and all that horsetwaddle, then to start it cold and listen to the 'Mack symphony' for five minutes while she warmed up some (a bone-wrenching noise as deisel damage occurs when started from COLD). Start... Top to learn more
Works great
I tapped into the lower radiator hose to feed the unit.Took a bit of plumbing but prolly still much easier then pulling a frost plug or attaching to a coolant drain.I attached the other end to the upper heater core hose.I have a timer hooked up so it turns on 3 hours before I leave for work.If it's gonna be below 0 I set it for 4 hours. The engine turns so much easier and smoother....another great feature is the instant heat.Allready have warm air coming out the defrost where otherwise it would take about 10 minutes to get that warm. This is with a Ford 302 5ltr V-8 Top to learn more
Kats 1500 watt block heater
This heater was installed as a replacement unit on a John Deere 3020 diesel tractor. It appears to be made pretty well and came with all the necessary hardware for installation. It has only been used about 6 times but has worked great, so far. Time will tell. Top to learn more

Product Description
An external tank heater is an electric heater that heats the engine or transmission of a vehicle to give quicker starts and protect your engine from damage that can occur during cold weather starts. Warmed engines also deliver better fuel economy, plus improves oil flow to provide better lubrication to the engine, which reduces wear and increases engine life. The one-piece molding eliminates the possibility of leaks and the tapered outlet design pushes coolant more effectively than other styles. The die cast aluminum is recyclable. Top to learn more

There is usually a heater control valve in one of the hoses to block the flow of coolant into the heater core when maximum air conditioning is called for. Temperature of the heat is regulated by a blend door that mixes cool outside air, or sometimes air conditioned air with the heated air coming through the heater core. A fan, called a blower, draws air through the heater core and directs it through the heater ducts to the interior of the car. This blend door allows you to control the temperature of the air coming into the interior. Other doors allow you to direct the warm air through the ducts on the floor, the defroster ducts at the base of the windshield, and the air conditioning ducts located in the instrument panel. One hose brings hot coolant from the water pump to the heater core and the other hose returns the coolant to the top of the engine. This is a simple and straight forward system that includes a heater core, which looks like a small version of a radiator, connected to the cooling system with a pair of rubber hoses. 12 years experience as an auto repair business owner and 11 years experience as a general manager of automotive repair chains. Drier or Accumulator: The drier, also known as the receiver-drier, is sort of the safety catch for your system. Robert and his crew finished the work ahead of schedule, and my car has been running like a dream ever since, which is fantastic since I've been driving for 4 hours a day since to commute to a new job.
This is what we can not find: The resistor controlling the blower speed in the climate control. He told me when you connect the climate control at first it works but after a few minutes it stops working. He tried to bypass the relay and it seems at first it works at high speed but then it stops working again. One Lincoln part specialist I contacted has offered me this part (used and tested) for 75. Another friend and me are helping him to solve some problems: It needs a lifter adjustment to get a smooth idle (not difficult), fixing the "Sure-track" ABS (now disabled, as it does not work properly sometimes), a new heater core (we have it...
