The Journey
I have always considered myself as someone who enjoys reading a good novel. Most of my reading interest has been directed toward mysteries and not necessarily in the direction of sci-fi. Thus I must add I have never considered myself as an avid sci-fi reader -- that is until I read DESIRE OF MANY. Reading this novel changed my attitude considerably about sci-fi thus removing the "Flash Gordon" image. First, DESIRE OF MANY starts your journey in that human life survival on earth will soon come to an end, due to the damage which the earth sustained in the habitat of mankind. The government began asking questions: Is there a place in outer space which could sustain life as we know it? The journery to discover this "Shangrala" begins with Tomoyuki embarking on this mission. Such a star is Exiguous; It was believed that such a planet is capable of sustaining life? Space travel to such a planet entailed over hundreds of light years away. How would its...

Good read - rough around the edges
Much like some of Asimov's work, it tells a story of human drama, in a setting that is fantastical but possible, with a good mixture of philosophy. He leaves a lot of mysteries to the reader - which I personally like. I can't quite explain why this book was such a page turner for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's the authors first book, and it shows - but he tells a good story. Maybe I liked it because it's a bit rough around the edges?
